About Me — Founder of Maynami Co

Hi, I’m May, and I run Maynami Co. This brand started as a way for me to share pieces I value—thoughtful, well-made items that bring ease, intention, and a little inspiration into everyday life.

Island Roots & Perspective

I’m originally from Guam and recently relocated to Saipan with my family. Growing up on islands shaped how I see life, community, and the things I choose to surround myself with. Life here moves at a slower pace, teaching you to appreciate simplicity, focus on what truly matters, and be mindful of how we live and what we bring into our homes.

The Meaning Behind Maynami

The name Maynami is personal to me: “May” represents me and my journey, and “Nami” means wave in Japanese. Life comes in waves—seasons of growth, uncertainty, and change. Maynami is about moving with those waves, learning to adapt, and approaching life intentionally.

This idea connects to everyone because we all experience waves in life—moments of growth, change, challenge, and opportunity. Maynami is about embracing those waves rather than resisting them, finding balance, and creating space for the things that truly matter—whether it’s the products you use, the environment you live in, or the relationships you nurture.

My Creative, Minimalist, Mindful Journey

Maynami began during a season of downsizing and simplifying my life. I realized I wanted to live with less—but live better. Minimalism isn’t about having nothing; it’s about keeping what truly matters. It helped me ease my life and my family’s life, think more clearly, and focus on what’s important.

It also made me realize I want financial peace and the freedom to live debt-free. Paying off my debt is a personal goal I’m actively working toward, and building Maynami Co. is part of that journey.

Along the way, I discovered a love for curating and creating. I’m new to designing and making personalized items, but that’s part of the excitement—learning, experimenting, and building pieces that feel thoughtful, functional, and meaningful. Sustainability is also important to me: giving items a second life, creating with care, and making choices that reduce waste.

Most importantly, this journey is helping me find my personal identity—who I am, what I value, and how I want to live and contribute. It’s a process of growth, reflection, and discovery, and Maynami Co. is a part of that exploration.

Momo & the Pet Mission

A big part of Maynami is inspired by my dog, Momo. She has allergies and requires limited-ingredient foods, which aren’t always easy to find on small islands. This inspired me to source small-batch, mindful, and safe pet products—so pets like Momo can thrive.

What Maynami Stands For

Maynami is about intentional living—for both people and pets. It’s about embracing life’s waves, creating with care, and making thoughtful, meaningful choices. I value quality over quantity, function over trends, creativity over excess, and care over convenience.

Everything I share is something I would use myself or give to someone I care about. My hope is that Maynami inspires you to live more mindfully, create thoughtfully, and find joy in intentional, personalized pieces—helping you navigate your own waves in a way that feels meaningful and grounded.
